All's not well at BBC Hindi

All is not well at New Delhi office of BBC Hindi Service. As the news of some more people joining the party with Sanjeev Srivastava at Sahara is filtering out there seems to be a sense of panic. This is happening at a time when BBC is looking at expanding its news business in India. Even possibility of a TV channel is also not ruled out. THe British broadcaster seems to be looking at regionalising the content as well as cash on the lare mobile subscriber base which is growing rapidly. The Hindi website from BBC has failed to garner eyeballs if compared with some other prominent newspaper websites in India like Jagran. Although a lot of original content is being generated it has failed to cash the credibility generated by BBC's radio service in India. As FM takes over the future of radio service run on short wave hangs in balance. BBC is looking at generating local content and then passing it onto mobile phone operators for monetizing it. There is large untapped potential at the bottom of the pyramid these are the people who don't use high end phones but still want authentic news. For most of them BBC is a known name. Reuters has already shown the way by running successfully a service providing agriculture related information.
