The Rajasthan Patrika Group launched its Hindi daily Patrika in Bhopal on May 25. The daily has been priced at Rs 1.50. The Group is present in six states – Rajasthan, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal – offering a bouquet of publications like Rajasthan Patrika, Patrika, Daily News, and evening newspaper News Today. The Group has embarked on an extensive branding exercise for Patrika’s launch in Bhopal comprising a two-tiered campaign at prominent locations in the city, radio spots, cinema slides at cineplexes, canopies, camel road shows, banners and vehicle branding, motorbike rallies, and direct contact activities. Arvind Kalia, National Head-Marketing, Rajasthan Patrika, claimed, “Patrika on its first day did a circulation of close to 1.20 lakh copies in Bhopal and nearby areas.” He further said, “Special magazines would be given with Patrika – ‘Parivaar’ on Wednesdays, ‘Bollywood’ on Saturdays, and ‘Hum Log’ on Sundays. Hindi newspaper space is getting more and more crowded with each passing day. Hindustan is slated to launch three more editions from Chandigarh, Allahabad and Dehradun . Sources in Allahabad say the preparations are on and edition will be launched sometime in May. Amar Ujala is said to be eyeing Bhopal. The two states which are going to witness action in the new year as far as Hindi print meia is concerned are Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh . Dehradun the capital of Uttarakhand will see the launch of three newspapers including two tabloids. While the Delhi bases Hindi daily Hindustan from the HT media limited will see the light of day in another two or three months. Dainik Jagran will launch Inext and Amar Ujala will follow in the footsteps with Compact. Daily News the Hindi daily from the Rajasthan Patrika group is slated to enter Indore in January. At present it has only one edition from Jaipur. The newspaper is said to be part of a grandiose plan from the group to fulfil its ambition of having a national presence. Which is being hampered due to the regional identity associated with the flagship brand Rajasthan Patrika. The newspaper is the only Hindi daily to have editions down the vindhyas in Tamilnadu and Karnataka. However Jagran is said to be mulling over plans to enter these markets. The sources say Indore edition of Daily News may be launched on 26 January earlier it was slated for a 10 December launch.

'Daily News' Hindi daily from Rajasthan Patrika's stable is learned to have delayed plans for launch of its Indore edition. It was slated for a December 10 launch. At present it has only one edition that is published from Jaipur. Patrika's evening daily News Today already has an edition from Indore. It is simultaneously published from Jaipur. Sometime back the newspaper group installed its own printing machines in Indore with an eye on second edition of Daily News from there.

Daink Bhaskar, Jaipur is feeling the heat generated by the launch of Daily News By its rival Rajasthan Patrika and is planning to launch itself another daily My Rajasthan to counter it.

Daily News has formally entered the Jaipur's already volatile newspaper market. The new daily launched by Rajasthan Patrika has been priced at Re. 1. Patrika and Dainik Bhaskar are already engaged in a price war and of late it is said a war of words has also begun on the kiss controversy. Both the players are busy raising the finger of accusation against each other.
