Nai Dunia to launch its Bilaspur edition on February 7

Hindi daily, Nai Dunia, is out to complete its presence in Chhattisgarh with the launch of its Bilaspur edition. The paper is slated for launch on February 7, 2007. Vineet Sethia, Director, Nai Dunia, said, “We want to complete our footprint in Chhattisgarh state. It will be incomplete without the Bilaspur edition. Going by the overwhelming response that we got for our Raipur edition and the rate at which we are growing, I am very confident that we will do wonders for our Bilaspur edition as well.” Nai Dunia will be catering to around five districts with its Bilaspur edition. The coverage will happen within two months of the launch. Sethia, however, refused to divulge the price of the paper. As far as the content is concerned, the paper will be carrying around 20 pages, out of which four pages would be devoted to Bilaspur city, while the rest will have a mix of national news, state level news, etc. At present, Bilaspur has two papers – Dainik Bhaskar and Nava Bharat. Three newspapers — Dainik Jagran, Dainik Bhaskar and Hindustan — have emerged as the front-runners in the race for Prabhat Khabar, the Usha Martin owned Hindi daily that was put on the block earlier this month. The highest bid for the paper is said to be between Rs 85 crore and Rs 90 crore. Sources close to the development said that the winner will be announced in the next few days. It is learnt that Dainik Bhaskar publishers Writers & Publishers’ Limited were a last minute entrant in the race for Prabhat Khabar. The company is said to have raised money recently by diluting part of its stake to Warburg. Edelweiss is the advisor to Prabhat Khabar. The media houses are interested in Prabhat Khabar as it is the largest circulated daily of Jharkhand and sells 2.28 lakh copies. With seven editions — one each in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad, Patna, Kolkata, Deoghar and Siliguri — the paper’s advertising revenue is estimated to be Rs 30 crore.
