Business Standard launches Hindi business daily

Business Standard (BS) has launched its Hindi business daily. The newspaper, which will be published from Mumbai and New Delhi under the eponymous Business Standard name, hit the news stands on February 16. More editions are expected to be announced in the coming months. TN Ninan, editor, Business Standard, says, “The last few years have seen the rapid growth of Hindi newspaper readership. We are delighted to have the opportunity to now serve Hindi readers with the best business news and analyses.” The Hindi version of the newspaper will be targeted at small and medium size entrepreneurs (SMEs), traders and small investors. The objective of launching a Hindi daily is to meet the strong need for information by individuals and SMEs in a resurgent economy.
TN NinanMost business dailies in the country are available only in the English language. BS believes that there are a large number of small time entrepreneurs who see language as the major barrier in their quest for business related information. The new Hindi paper is designed to meet this need by adding locally relevant content. The content of the paper will include incisive and in-depth analysis of events as per the respective regions. The paper will be published six days a week and help readers anticipate trends in the stock, commodity and money markets, and make sense of the latest economic policies and happenings in the corporate world. It will aim to provide readers with advice on personal finance and real estate and inform them about the latest developments from the world of gizmos and gadgets. The initial print run of the newspaper is expected to be at least 75,000 copies. The cover price is to be kept at Rs 2 per copy. The paper will have around 16 pages. Lowe is promoting the newspaper through a 360 degree marketing plan in both the cities. Details of the advertising campaign were not available at the time of filing this report. The English version of Business Standard is currently available in markets including Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kochi, Greater Mumbai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, New Delhi, Chandigarh and Pune. The paper has a circulation of 33,586 and 28,469 copies (ABC figures, January-June 2007) in New Delhi and Mumbai, respectively. © 2008 agencyfaqs! filed by agencyfaqs! new
