Punjab Kesari to enter Hisar soon

Leading Hindi daily Punjab Kesari is getting ready to mark its foray into Hisar. The new edition will be launched in March. So far the paper used to cater to this market through its Ambala edition.
Explaining the reason for the launch, Punjab Kesari Group Director Amit Chopra said, “We have been serving Hisar through our Ambala edition. Having a separate edition in Hisar will help us serve the readers well. We will directly cater to them now providing them with the latest news. Henceforth the delivery time would also be reduced.”
The content of the new offering will have a judicious mix of national, international, state news, among others. While 25 percent of coverage will be given to local news, 75 percent would constitute the state, national and other news. The price of the paper is going to be the same as the other editions of the Punjab Kesari.
At present, Hisar has two Hindi dailies-- Dainik Jagran and Dainik Bhaskar. With a full-fledged edition coming in from Punjab Kesari soon, readers will have more options before them. Speaking on the competition aspect, Chopra said, “We already exist in that market and are fairly good over there. We intend to improve our position there.”
The initial print run is going to be around 50,000 copies. The marketing activities for the new edition is going to commence from March. The promotional mix will be largely skewed towards outdoor activities.

HT Media Q3 net at Rs 184.2 mn; demerges Hindi business

Courtsey: exchange4media.com HT Media more than doubled its net profit in the third quarter ended December 31, 2009 to Rs 184.2 million from Rs 78.2 million in Q3 FY09 due to sharp increase in circulation and advertising revenues. The company has demerged its Hindi business that includes daily ‘Hindustan’, magazines ‘Nandan’ and Kadambini’ during the quarter for Rs 1.4 billion and has temporarily shut down the loss making JV with BCCL, ‘Metro Now’. However, the company’s total revenue decreased by 3 per cent at Rs 3,289.8 million on standalone basis. On consolidated basis, the revenues of the company have increased 6 per cent to Rs 3,661 million from Rs 3,457 million on account of 30 per cent increase in circulation revenues from Rs 390 million to Rs 508 million. Recruitment for Hindustan's Gorakhpur edition to begin from September

Sources in the Hindustan say recruitment for its proposed Gorakhpur edition will begin in the month of September. Thus paving the way for many more faces changing their loyalty from one group to another in search of a better opportunity. Bareli edition of the newspaper will be launched somewhere in between September 15 to first week of October. while launch of seperate Ghaziabad edition has been put on hold as the newspaper is in search of space for its proposed unit.
